Red is probably one of the most gorgeous yet daring colours for the lips. However, it's a colour that not many people out there have the confidence to wear. I know I was one of these people and it took me awhile to build up the courage to finally start wearing red on my lips. Of course, red can be quite a difficult colour to wear in terms of what eye make up it suits and such, but once you wear it right, you look absolutely glamorous! So today, I'm here to show you three different looks inspired by three of my favourite shades of red.
The first shade is from the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 12. This shade is quite orange than it should be red, but nevertheless it is one of my favourites as it's bright yet casual, suitable for a casual outing especially in spring or summer. With this type of shade, I would go with a more subtle and pink toned eye shadow. Here, I'm using the Revlon Custom Eyes Sweet Innocence Palette to complete the look.
This next shade is from Napoleon Perdis in the colour Devine Goddess. I absolutely love this lipstick not only for the quality of it but the gorgeous packaging aswell! This shade is definitely not the darkest shade of red as it has a subtle brightness to it, but it is definitely a lot darker than the one before. It pretty much reminds me of the Golden Age, so I find that implementing it with gold eye shadow definitely suits with this shade and makes you feel as if you were part of that grand era.
The last shade is from Rimmel's Lasting Finish Lipstick in the colour Temptation and is probably the darkest out of the three shades. This may sound creepy, but a dark red like this reminds me most of vampires and blood. Thus with this sort of shade I feel that it goes most suitable with a dark brown eye shadow on the crease along with a shimmery eye shadow on the lids, such as the colour Sidecar from the Urban Decay Naked Palette. This type of look would be appropriate for a cold, winter's day.
- When wearing a red lipstick, I find it best to apply a lip pencil before putting the lipstick on. That way, the lipstick will last longer and won't smudge or become patchy. A patchy or smudged red lip isn't the most ideal look....
- Always remember to bring a lipstick with you just for emergency when you are out!
- Red lips are kind of like a statement piece, so you don't want the attention drawn away from them. Therefore, it's best to wear subtle eye shadows to avoid looking like a drag queen.
- I find that red lips is even more elegant when your face is highly defined and contoured, so don't be afraid to go crazy with your bronzer!
- Last but not least, have fun and be confident in what you're wearing!
Stay tuned to see more updates on my blog!
